2023 IEEE AP-S R.W.P. King Award

We would like to express our heartfelt congratulations to Carl Pfeiffer and Jeffrey Massman for being awarded the 2023 IEEE AP-S R.W.P. King Award.

In their awarded paper "An UWB Hemispherical Vivaldi Array" which was published in the October 2022 issue of the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, Carl Pfeiffer and Jeffrey Massman report the first conformal ultrawideband (UWB) array on a doubly curved surface for wide-angle electronic scanning.

The R. W. P. King Award is presented to an author under 36 years of age for the best paper published in the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation during the previous year.

Winners of the 2023 Harold A. Wheeler Applications Prize Paper Award announced

We extend our warmest congratulations to Ilias I. Giannakopoulos , Georgy D. Guryev, José E. C. Serrallés , Ioannis P. Georgakis , Luca Daniel, Jacob K. White and Riccardo Lattanzi for their paper titled "Compression of Volume-Surface Integral Equation Matrices via Tucker Decomposition for Magnetic Resonance Applications" which was awarded with the 2023 Harold A. Wheeler Applications Prize Paper Award.

In their paper, Giannakopoulos et al. propose a method for the compression of the coupling matrix in volume-surface integral equation (VSIE) formulations, able to work in tandem with the adaptive cross approximation (ACA) technique to provide fast solutions of VSIE problems. The paper was published in the January 2022 issue of the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation.

Winners of the 2023 Sergei A. Schelkunoff Transactions Prize Paper Award announced

We are delighted to extend our warmest congratulations to Charles A. Guo and Y. Jay Guo for their paper titled "A General Approach for Synthesizing Multibeam Antenna Arrays Employing Generalized Joined Coupler Matrix" which has been awarded with the 2023 Sergei A. Schelkunoff Transactions Prize Paper Award. The award-winning paper was published in the September 2022 issue of the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation.

The paper presents a new concept, the generalized joined coupler (GJC) matrix, which encapsulates both the Blass matrix and the Nolen matrix, as well as their variants, and presents a novel theoretical framework for generating individually and independently controllable multiple beams using the GJC matrix.

About the award

The Sergei A. Schelkunoff Transactions Prize Paper Award is presented to the authors of the best paper published in the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation during the previous year. It was previously known as the “Best Paper” award and was renamed in 1985.
