Konstantina S. Nikita received the M.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering and the Ph.D. degree from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), as well as the M.D. degree from the Medical School, University of Athens. From 1990 to 1996, she worked as a researcher at the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems. In 1996, she joined the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, NTUA, as an assistant professor, and since 2005, she serves as a professor at the same school.

She is director of the Mobile Radiocommunications Laboratory and founder and director of the Biomedical Simulations and Imaging Laboratory, NTUA. Since 2015, she is an Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Medicine, at Keck School of Medicine and Viterbi School of Engineering, University of Southern California.

Her current research interests include computational bioelectromagnetics, biomedical telemetry, biomedical signal and image processing and analysis, simulation of physiological and biological systems, and computational neuroscience. Her published work includes ten books, 190 papers in refereed international journals, and over 350 papers in international conference proceedings. She holds three patents.

Dr. Nikita has been the technical manager of several European and National R&D projects. She has served as the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation (2019-2022) and as a member of the Editorial Board of the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, Bioelectromagnetics, and Journal of Biomedical Engineering and Computing.

She has been chair of the program/organizing committee of more than 50 international conferences, while she has served as keynote and invited speaker at several international conferences, symposia and workshops. She has been the advisor of more than 30 completed Ph.D. theses, several of which have received various awards.

Dr Nikita is a Fellow of the IEEE, a Founding Fellow of the European Association of Medical and Biological Engineering and Science (EAMBES), and a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE). She has received various honors/awards, including the Bodossakis Foundation Academic Prize (2003) for exceptional achievements in "Theory and Applications of Information Technology in Medicine" and her appointment as 2022/2023 Global Chair of the University of Bath, UK.

She has served as chair of the LS7 Consolidator Grant Panel of the European Research Council (ERC) for granting investigator-driven frontier research in the domain of life sciences. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Atomic Energy Commission and of the Hellenic National Academic Recognition and Information Center, as well as a member of the Hellenic National Council of Research and Technology and of the Hellenic National Ethics Committee. She is a member of the IEEE-EMBS Technical Committee on Biomedical and Health Informatics (TC BHI) and has served on the IEEE-EMBS Administrative Committee (AdCom) and several IEEE award evaluation committees.

Kwok Wa Leung (S’90–M’93–SM’02–F’11) was born in Hong Kong in 1967. He received his B.Sc. degree in electronics and Ph.D. degree in electronic engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, in 1990 and 1993, respectively.

From 1990 to 1993, he was a Graduate Assistant with the Department of Electronic Engineering, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. In 1994, he joined the Department of Electronic Engineering at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) as an Assistant Professor and is currently a Professor. He was an Assistant Head of the Department from 2009 to 2013. From Jan. to June, 2006, Professor Leung was a Visiting Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, The Pennsylvania State University, USA. Professor Leung’s students received the 2015 iWEM Student Best Paper Award, 2015 IEEE AP-S Eugene F. Knott Memorial Pre-Doctoral Research Award, and 2014 IEEE MTT-S Undergraduate/Pre-graduate Scholarship.

Professor Leung was the Chair of the IEEE AP/MTT Hong Kong Joint Chapter for the years of 2006 and 2007. He was the Technical Program Chair, 2008 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference, Hong Kong, the Technical Program Co-Chair, 2006 IEEE TENCON, Hong Kong, and the Finance Chair of PIERS 1997, Hong Kong. His research interests include antenna designs, guided wave theory, computational electromagnetics, and mobile communications. He was an Editor for HKIE Transactions and a Guest Editor of IET Microwaves, Antennas and Propagation. Prof. Leung served as Associate Editor for the IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters. He also served as Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation (TAP) and received Transactions Commendation Certificates twice in 2009 and 2010 for his exceptional performance. He was a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society from 2012 to 2014. Currently, Prof. Leung is the Editor-in-Chief of TAP and a member of the AP-S Distinguished Lecturer Program Committee.

Professor Leung received the International Union of Radio Science (USRI) Young Scientists Awards in Japan and Russia in 1993 and 1995, respectively. He also received CityU Research Excellence Award 2013 and Departmental Outstanding Teacher Awards in 2005, 2010, and 2011.
